CBA Rankings in Major Turmoil: Guangdong Narrowly Defeats Shenzhen, Liaoning's 3-Win Streak Climbs to Ninth, Jilin Overtakes Xinjiang

On March 14 Beijing time, the CBA regular season continued, with four more games concluding last night. Among them, Beijing Control edged out the "soft persimmon" Tianjin 106-98, Liaoning staged a major comeback to defeat Shanxi 92-84, Shenzhen narrowly lost to Guangdong 97-101 in a derby battle, and Xinjiang, struggling with scoring, fell 82-89 to the "giant killer" Jilin. Consequently, the latest rankings have shifted: Guangdong holds third place, Shanxi drops to eighth after losing, Liaoning climbs to ninth with a three-game winning streak, and Jilin overtakes Xinjiang to move up to 14th place!

Beijing Control versus Tianjin. Beijing Control currently sits as the playoff zone gatekeeper. In the first quarter, Beijing Control quickly found its scoring rhythm, building a small surge to widen the gap. The subsequent game turned into a tug-of-war, with Beijing Control maintaining control of the score throughout. Tianjin failed to mount an offensive comeback, and ultimately Beijing Control secured the win over Tianjin, solidifying its playoff position!

Liaoning versus Shanxi. After the game started, Liaoning, playing at home, was slow to warm up, frequently missing shots. Shanxi, shooting accurately, seized the opportunity to score inside and outside, posting a 27-15 run to establish a double-digit lead. In the second quarter, Liaoning adjusted its tactics, employing a zone defense, and its offensive efficiency quickly recovered, beginning to chip away at the deficit. In the second half, Liaoning pressed forward, with multiple players contributing to overwhelm Shanxi, narrowing the gap to just one point by the end of the third quarter. In the final quarter, Liaoning's offensive momentum persisted. Li Xiaoxiu stood firm like an anchor, contributing on both offense and defense to help Liaoning continue suppressing Shanxi and widen the lead. Ultimately, Liaoning reversed the game to defeat Shanxi, securing a four-game winning streak and ranking ninth!

Shenzhen versus Guangdong. Guangdong, despite a recent slump with three consecutive losses, still ranked second. This round, they faced Shenzhen away in a derby clash. The game proved to be tightly contested, with the battle intense and the suspense lasting until the end, full of twists and turns. In the final moments, facing Shenzhen's pursuit, Guangdong responded with consecutive three-pointers. Zhang Jiahao and Sa Linjie showed no hesitation in their shooting, maintaining the lead. They then used free throws to stabilize their advantage. Ultimately, Guangdong relied on the strong performance of its foreign players to defeat Shenzhen, ending their losing streak and bouncing back from their downturn!

Xinjiang versus Jilin. Xinjiang's season performance has been dismal with little hope left. This round, facing the "giant killer" Jilin, the two teams engaged in a positioning battle. After the game started, Xinjiang's offense was decent, scoring inside and outside to pressure Jilin and take the initiative. However, the situation changed abruptly in the second quarter. Jilin unleashed full firepower, overwhelming Xinjiang whose offense stalled, delivering a 29-17 quarter to directly overtake the score and reverse the disadvantage. In the second half, Xinjiang launched counterattacks, attempting to erode the deficit, but Jilin was able to respond swiftly, successfully curbing Xinjiang's momentum. Ultimately, Jilin reversed the game to defeat Xinjiang, rising to 14th place in the rankings!
