Manchester United's 27-year-old Turkish international goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has reportedly agreed to transfer to Besiktas, dissatisfied with his role as a backup in England and willing to leave Old Trafford. Turkish media claims the Red Devils agreed to sell for 5 million euros, the same price as when he joined.

Bayindir briefly outperformed Andre Onana to start for Manchester United early in the season, but after Sena Ramsay took over, he never got another chance. Since joining in 2023, he has only played 17 times. Now he desires a transfer to seek first-team playing opportunities and is willing to significantly reduce his salary, from 5 million euros annually to 3 million.
"Football Insider" reports that all parties now agree Bayindir will leave this summer. Manchester United considers the player not part of their future plans, and given the player's own dissatisfaction and frustration with his role, parting ways is the best outcome.
Transfer expert Pete O'Rourke explained: "I wouldn't be surprised. I think Bayindir is clearly frustrated with what happened at Manchester United. He was originally United's starting goalkeeper this season, but Ramsay seized the opportunity after gaining recognition and secured the number one spot. Bayindir has been frustrated at Old Trafford for quite some time, finding himself just a backup, a marginal role. The player himself is very willing to leave Manchester United in the summer to revive his career. At this stage of his career, he craves consistent playing time."
Actually, Bayindir could have left in January, but Manchester United did not intend to sign replacements in the winter window, hence did not agree. O'Rourke added: "For his career, Bayindir has long desired to leave the team and seek other opportunities. There were rumors he might transfer in January, but Manchester United lacked suitable backup players then. So, summer is the best time for everyone to sort things out; United can bring in a new backup, and Bayindir can seek stable starting opportunities as he wishes."

Bayindir wants to leave, yet English media reveals that 29-year-old former Manchester United starting goalkeeper Onana insists on returning! After joining from Inter Milan for 50 million euros, the Cameroon goalkeeper never gained recognition; loaned to Turkish Super League club Trabzonspor early in the season, he initially performed well but recently revealed his true form with consecutive mistakes.
Although Manchester United hopes to sell Onana, he reportedly firmly wants to return and fight for his position. Reports suggest Onana believes Ramsay's recent performances are not entirely convincing either, with some conceded goals avoidable, so he believes he has a chance to regain his starting spot.
Onana is expected to return and report before preseason, with the final decision likely resting with the club's next permanent head coach. Onana's friend, former Chelsea Cameroon defender Geremi, cheers for him, insisting Onana is ready for the fight.
Geremi stated: "I know Andre (Onana) well; he did many things wrong during his time at Manchester United. But it wasn't just him. Believe me, with Carrick's arrival, everyone's situation improved. Andre can too; he clearly has talent, his abilities are very rare. What he needs to do next is return to Manchester United and fight for his position. Andre always performs well under challenge. When he gets a fair chance to prove himself, he thrives."

Geremi added: "In my career, I liked playing for ambitious teams with strong personalities. If I played a few bad games, someone would always knock on the coach's door, asking for a chance. That meant I had to step up, make a stand, not just sit back. But that's up to Andre to decide."
