On March 11 Beijing time, American media shared the scene after the Cavaliers defeated the 76ers. The moment when Embiid proactively showed goodwill to his former teammate Harden was exposed.

Post-game video shared by American media shows that after a brief exchange with Maxey, Harden was about to leave the court but was then pulled back by Embiid from behind.
American media later interpreted Embiid's lip movements; Embiid was smiling and said at the time: "I know you're still angry with me, but I still want to greet you... don't be mad at me."

In 2023, Harden requested a trade to leave the 76ers due to contract renewal issues. Embiid had denied intervening in this matter. Regarding Harden's trade request, Embiid said in an interview at that time: "It's disappointing, but on the other hand, I understand it's all business, everyone makes decisions, and I appreciate how he handled the whole situation. We will always be brothers, I certainly hope he can return, so we can accomplish what we want and win a championship, so hopefully his mindset can change."
In 2024, after the Clippers defeated the 76ers in a regular season game, Harden was asked in a post-game interview whether he had maintained contact with Embiid since the trade, and he replied: "No."
From Embiid's recent behavior, it appears the relationship between the two is indeed not good. So far this season, Embiid has played only 33 games for the 76ers due to injury, averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. Harden has played 55 games, averaging 24.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 8.1 assists. In the 11 games since joining the Cavaliers, Harden averages 19.3 points, 5 rebounds, and 7.8 assists.
